Ski Run Marina

Ski Run Marina is a landmark.

Mansoor Elie Alyeshmerni has owned Ski Run Marina since 2003.

Elie’s vision was to make Ski Run Marina  visitor friendly while serving the community of which it is a vital part. Having 400 feet of frontage on the lake made us in a small way a steward of the lake. The renovation of the harbor that was completed in 2008-2009 made it possible for the water in the harbor to be the cleanest ever. After the renovation of the harbor the focus shifted to the retail part. Each tenant has been picked  very carefully to create a synergistic environment where at any time any visitor will have multiple choice of experiences.

Thus Ski Run Marina is once again becoming a hub of activities in South Lake Tahoe. A place full kids having fun, great art, great shopping, fabulous food, great boating and fishing and a proximity to nature that you can’t feel anywhere else. An inviting place to come and enjoy some”TahoeTime.” A place not to rush, but a place to linger and enjoy yourself and create lasting memories. The transformation has started and with the continued support from the South lake Tahoe community, Ski Run Marina will be a jewel on the shores of Lake Tahoe again.

Ski Run Marina was awarded the Best of Tahoe in Marinas in 2015

Ski Run Marina

A Little History

The Native Washoe Indians were the first people living in the Lake Tahoe area. In 1844, American explorers Kit Carson and John Fremont were the first to discover the area. Then, in the 1860s, silver was discovered in the Sierra Nevada causing the area to  prosper as prospectors flocked here to seek their fortune. Original settlements focused on the mining and the lumber industries, but in the 1920’s the first casinos arrived. Elias J. “Lucky” Baldwin built the “Greatest Casino in America”. But, Lucky’s casino was built on the California Side at the Tallac Resort in South Lake Tahoe. Gambling did not come to Nevada until 1926 and then it was focused on the other end of the lake. It was not until 1955 that Harrah’s was established at Stateline in South Lake Tahoe.

Ski Run Marina was first established in 1939. It was a focal part of South Lake Tahoe in the early days when the city was more evenly spread east and west. The current building was completed in the 1996-1997 season. The Tahoe Queen, arguably the most famous paddlewheeler on the lake has always called Ski Run Marina her home.

Ski Run Marina is once again returning to a prominent position in the South Lake Tahoe tourist and business community. Visitors tired of the Stateline Casino type entertainment are flocking to retail communities like Ski Run Marina for more family entertainment and the total Tahoe experience. The local south lake great food, shops and activities bring locals and visitors to Ski Run Marina in droves, just like in its old glory days.
